i left the museum at 1.15 am under a bright two thirds moon and met a guy called Craig (not the tramway Craig) who said that he had been up two weeks before when the tram was closed for maintenance. He hiked down the next day. I reached Long Valley after 8.30 hours and was thrilled to see Ellen, Tina, Mark, Steve, Scott, Ze and Kathryn an hour later after starting at 5.00 am.
A hiker called Nikolai who also atarted at 5.00 am said that he passed 27 people. Scott started at 6.10 am and Ze fairly late too.
Just before Flat Rock I saw Florian's gallon bucket with three pints of bottled water.
It was great weather and my first Skyline this year. Flatrock was reached at 7.00 am when the sun came out.

Hi Cy,

I'm really pleased to hear this!! Last i heard the bucket was empty and i was planning to remove it the next time i was up. But perhaps now i'll reconsider and leave it in place and just add a bottle or two next time. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the trip Joe, always a good time hiking with you. BTW, the chop that added gain is more fun than going the easy way...trust me.

Great trip report, it was good to see you on skyline even if you did beat me after starting an hour earlier...biatch...lol
I think you will be good doing 5 hours for the first round of back to back. i am thinking i have to come in at 6 hours to be strong for round 2.
I think the tram bar will be the most crowded its ever been that day.

Thanks for the warm words Ellen, Tina, Steve and Skylies. That made my day too. Cool At the risk of getting off topic, here are some Matterhorn pictures and

I just received an e mail from Doreen saying that she started at 5.50 am and made it up to the tram in 8.30 hours. She ran into Scott, Doug and Fernando on the way, or rather they ran into her Smile It must be nice living so close to the trailhead. It was her 246 or 248th time up.
Happy Birthday Kathy W Smile
