OMG, I guess I am becoming a grumpy curmudgeon, because the group photo of these happy grinning idiots really pissed me off. They should be hanging their heads in shame and at least have the grace to look sorry and grateful. They seem not to understand that they endangered other people, too, with their selfish actions. I don't get behavior like this. There is a lack of respect in it--for the sovereign power of nature and its absolute limits, and for other people's time and lives. Everyone makes dumb mistakes, but it is the disrespect that puts me off. It is like they think nature is just one big Disneyland put there for their entertainment and that rangers and rescue people are merely low-level workers whose job is to make sure you never come to any real harm.
