Almost. I missed the round trip by 6 seconds today:

Heh heh. Little does he know there's a shark in the water...you've got six seconds in you, I'm sure of that, and if you pressed it to get within six seconds you know that's perfect training specificity. Keep posting as the situation develops!

:) Thanks for the encouraging words. It might be awhile until I give it another shot...

Ran it yesterday and very likely got the round trip and came close on the uphill, but there's been something strange happening lately with some Sony GPS chips used in a lot of devices, so it didn't count.

While the training was excellent and nothing was wasted, it would still piss me off for my technology to leave me guessing! I still hate it when my heart rate monitor goes crazy and I can't tell the intensity of a workout during analysis. Makes me feel like I lost the benefit of the workout! So, once you've got the technology cleared up, next attempt in a couple more weeks?

Sorry for the slow reply. You might think that something significant happened this week that made me forget. Anyways, here's another update. I got the round trip crown back using my phone yesterday:
https://www.strava.com/activities/4594870858

10:48 to beat 11:09 (city hall entrance, cul-de-sac loop, city hall entrance) A glitch gave me a few seconds, but I also ran it a few seconds faster last Saturday.

Uphill segment (111 to Ritz entrance) was 6:13 and that other guy ran 6:00. I believe last Saturday I ran ~6:05 when my watch had GPS problems. To go for the uphill, I'll have to go all out, build up lactic acid, then collapse from exhaustion at the Ritz driveway, then jog down after catching my breath. It would be worth it though.

It was in the low 70's yesterday afternoon and high 60's last Saturday. I'm thinking just running it in the 50's would knock off a few seconds... Less blood flow to the skin, more to the muscles.

I got the uphill! 5:57 to beat 6:00. Warm for January at 77 degrees. We'll see how long that lasts and whether I can defend it... That guy runs a 5k in under 15 minutes. I can't do that. :)
