South Ridge Trail conditions

Postby SoCalJim » Wed May 31, 2017 5:10 pm

Haven't seen any recent reports. I'm thinking about taking my daughter up there in about a week, but she'll be less than thrilled if there's any significant amount of snow to deal with. Anyone been up there lately?

Just looked at Ellen's San Jacinto via Deer springs pics and it looks like snow should not be an issue. But any recent hike info would still be appreciated.

I worked the tower today. No snow whatsoever on South Ridge. A couple of very small off-trail patches on the traverse if you come up from Devil's Slide.

Thanks for helping out up there Florian, (& the info on the trail). If we land up with a heavy Monsson season this summer, you may be reporting things, (let's hope not).

Thanks, Florian. I'm thinking of retiring in Idyllwild in the next couple of years. Helping man the lookout is something I could be interested in.
